June and July Happenings

In June, we were trying to get back to our routine. Mainly trying to find a grocery store without using a GPS.

Just across the street in the next neighborhood we have a great park that Amelia loves. She finally braved going down the big slide without me catching her. Big News.

We also have a neighborhood pool that was constantly freezing. I thought it would be like last year, where we were at the pool ERRRday. I feel like we totally got jipped this summer. I rarely go over 90 degrees. Normally, I would be okay with this, but I really wanted to go to the pool! The water was just too cold for 85 degree weather to be worth it. 

We did enjoy a few goo days at the pool, and Anthony was unselfish enough to go in the water everytime. We got her a puddle jumper, and she could swim across the entire pool in it! It was great and she just loved it. 

Illinois is COVERED in corn. We literally have a corn field in our back yard, so we enjoyed our share of the golden veggie. Below is amelia eating it raw.. it was that good apparently. 

Anthony's cousin lives just 30 minutes away, and Amelia has gotten quite attached to his daughter, Haylie.

The move was a little rough on her sleeping schedule. While in Utah, we left her with my mom for a few nights and she developed a fear that we were always going to leave. Anthony had to sleep with her for a month and then we had to sit in her room until she fell asleep for an other month. It was pretty bad at night, but for nap time I really didn't mind. She would sing herself to sleep with I Am A Child Of God and it melted my heart. 

We went to Six Flags with some friends we met. They have both have 2 year old boys and 4 year old girls. We have a lot of fun with them!

Trekking to Chicago

The end of March, we headed to Chicago. 

Anthony had a Healthcare conference, and I had to go house hunting.

Amelia is starting to be a lot better in the car, so long drives aren't as miserable as they were last summer. We still wanted to break up the 15 hour drive though. We stopped in Toledo, Ohio, and went to their science Center. It was AMAZING. Our science center in Ithaca is pretty fun, but the Toledo one was crazy cool. 

The water area was huge and I am pretty sure Amelia literally (literally) thought she was in heaven.

MEXICAN FOOD!! Ithaca has disgusting Mexican food, so we had to find some good eats while we were away.

On the way home, it was not quite as pleasant. We had to stop and give in to the demands of an almost 2 year old. Ice cream and Rice Krispies.

Cornell Graduation

We are still alive...

We are just getting adjusted to life without school.

All of our friends are heading back to Cornell right now, and for the first time in our lives we are not in school. It is a strange concept and I have to admit that I am feeling a little stagnant. Our whole marriage has revolved around school and now we are in the grown up world. It's a bummer. I told Anthony he should apply to Med school again so we can be in school forever. (... and debt forever too, but I feel like we will be anyways..)

 Truth be told, I think it was a huge blessing that we decided on Cornell instead of medical school. 

Grad school is hard. And I wasn't even in school. Being the wife of a grad student is HARD.

I don't know if I could really survive anymore school. I like having Anthony home and a regular schedule.

On a happier note, Anthony's graduation on May 25 was a really happy day. We made it.

The ceremony was really nice and Andy Bernard from the office gave the commencement speech was awesome. Go on YouTube and watch it. 

I complained about Ithaca a lot, pretty much every day, at least in my head. 

People... I MISS IT. I miss it so much. Cornell is such a beautiful campus and I am sad that I didn't go there EVERY DAY. Ithaca will always hold a very special place in my heart as well as all the wonderful people we met. It is such a unique place and I will miss it forever.
